A sacred day
It’s an interesting word, “sacred.” It has a specific meaning. To wit “set apart.” We could argue, reasonably, that it could mean “of a different sort.” It’s important to remember these meanings when we consider Pearl Harbor Day. It is, to the United States and especially to the men and women of the United States Navy, a sacred day. A day for remembering the events of “a date which will live in infamy.” Not a happy day, not a sad day, but certainly a day for solemn remembrance.

Hand, Salute. Ready, Two.
May they rest in peace.
