Have you ever been to Liberty Island? It’s the place in the US where we find a particular, enormous copper-clad statue, given to us by France. Here’s a picture, taken from the National Park Service page.

Yep. That’s the Statue of Liberty. Please take a moment to look closely at the picture. Trust me, it’s important for what will come later.

Have you ever thought about the colors which most often occur in political ads in the US? (This too, is important for later) If you haven’t, I offer the following, none of which are endorsements on my part, but which serve to make a point.

Yep. Red, white and blue. We’re big on those colors.

We are told that there are plans for conservatives (and presumably libertarians) to engage in armed demonstrations at the US Capitol and all 50 state capitols on January 17th, 2021. If you are thinking of going, you’re an idiot. More than that, you’re an idiot who is being set up. Here, check this out.

Historically, what has been a favorite color for communist propaganda ads? If you guessed “red,” you are correct. Ding! Extra points for you. American conservatives tend to go for, you guessed it, red, white and blue (Americans in general are big on those, remember?) It’s also worth noting that in the “Refused to be Silenced” pic above, Lady Liberty is holding the torch in the wrong hand. We could, of course, mention things like the arguable ChiCom stars, but you get the point.

“Conservatives are planning to be armed at the US Capitol and all 50 state capitols on the 17th!” Nope. Not buying it. Don’t let yourself be gaslit into doing something stupid. Don’t be an idiot, useful to either side. Listen, instead, to Admiral Ackbar.
